Obaseki pledges to indict sexual wrongdoers, guarantees equity for casualties

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to eliminating all forms of gender-based violence across the state, reassuring that the government will not shy away from prosecuting offenders, no matter how highly placed in the society.

Obaseki, represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu gave the assurance while declaring open the Edo Gender-based violence (GBV) workshop, held at the Government House in Benin City.

The three-day studio is being coordinated by the Edo State Government as a team with the Nigeria Institute of Science (NAS) and Portage Establishment.

The preparation, presently on its subsequent day, with the subject, “To reinforce the proof and reaction pathways for Sex Based Brutality (GBV),” is designated at getting extreme equity for survivors of sexual orientation based viciousness in Edo.
